The objects around us shape how we feel, how we live, and how we experience the everyday. Dila Mathilda exists to make those everyday surroundings more tactile, expressive and inspiring.

I am Dila Demir, the designer and founder of Dila Mathilda. Growing up in Turkey, I developed a deep connection to its rich craft traditions — particularly its rugs and textiles, but also the techniques, materials and ways of making passed through generations. This connection became an important part of how I see and approach design.

Today, Dila Mathilda lives between Turkey and Estonia. In the weaving villages of Turkey, master women weavers bring our rugs to life using techniques rooted in Anatolian weaving traditions. In my studio in Tallinn, I develop the designs and handweave the wall tapestries myself, while exploring new ways of bringing craft into contemporary design.

For me, craft is more than a visual language. It is a connection to material, place, people, culture and ways of making. I am interested in carrying this knowledge forward — not simply reproducing the past, but reinterpreting it through contemporary design. And Mathilda? Mathilda is my weaving loom, and the other half of the brand's name. Together, we are Dila Mathilda: a studio shaped by designers, artisans, materials, tools and the many hands involved in making each piece.
