Dila & Mathilda are a woven textile duo; Dila is a Turkish woven textile designer based in Tallinn, Estonia and Mathilda is her faithful weaving loom. Growing up in an Anatolian culture surrounded by stories crafted into everyday textiles, Dila is fascinated by how textile patterns, especially rug motifs, are used as non-verbal communication. Her exploration into cultural symbolism expanded from Anatolia to other civilizations. Thus, inspired by the hidden narratives in cultural symbolism, the duo creates woven rugs inviting the ancient stories of cultures into daily life.
