Dila & Mathilda are a woven textile duo; Dila is a Turkish woven textile designer based in Tallinn, Estonia and Mathilda is her faithful weaving loom. Growing up in an Anatolian culture surrounded by stories crafted into everyday textiles, Dila is fascinated by how textile patterns, especially rug motifs, are used as non-verbal communication. Inspired by these traditional motifs, Dila & Mathilda weaves tactile stories bringing ancient cultural motifs with modern twist to everyday life.

A rug can contain memories. It can mediate stories. Stories of cultures...stories of weavers...A rug can define a space; it can create new memories in that space.
